I took my first job and introduction to the world of hospitality at Rookery Hall Hotel at the age of 16. It was this introduction that sparked my interest and subsequent passion for all things food and drink! But it was an ambition of mine to be my own boss long before.
I continued at Rookery for many years wearing various hats whilst completing my education, which culminated in a business management degree at John Moore's University, Liverpool. During which time I was able to conduct frequent and thorough research into the pub industry!
Upon graduation I joined the ranks of hotel management. Now for those of you in the know hospitality is not an easy route and like many before me I did briefly drift, spending twelve months in the financial sector of all places, but alas absence makes the heart grow fonder and I returned to try my hand at running pubs.
I joined the Swan at Tarporley where I really cut my teeth in this area of the industry before moving on to join Brunning and Price at Old Hall, Sandbach, Where I like to think I spent a further two years really honing my skill set before the Mere beckoned and I finally took the plunge!
